Personal life
Aquino will be the first president to be a bachelor, being unmarried and having no children.[2] Aquino does not drink alcoholic beverages.[2] Aquino will be the second president not to drink alcohol, the first president not to drink alcohol was Emilio Aguinaldo.[2]Aquino is a smoker, and has admitted to smoking up to three packs a day.[32] During his presidential campaign, Aquino promised to quit smoking if he wins the election.[33] However, Aquino decided later he would not quit smoking, at least not at this time,[34] and says he will smoke even on World No Tobacco Day.[35] Aquino says he is not keen on being a poster boy for anti-smoking advocates,[36] and says he would quit smoking at the "appropriate" time.[35] Aquino will be the eighth president to be a smoker.[2]
Aquino is currently in a relationship with Shalani Soledad, a 30-year-old Valenzuela City councilor and niece of former Senator Francisco Tatad.[37][38][39][40] Aquino and Soledad first met in 2000 or 2001, when Soledad interviewed Aquino for a media project.[37] They accidentally met again in August 2008 at Alfredo's restaurant in Quezon City, while dining with their respective friends, and the following month, Aquino introduced Soledad to some of his friends and said they were just going out.[37]
Aquino was previously in a relationship with a stewardess, a staffer of Senator Francis Pangilinan, and two actresses.[37] Aquino had a previous relationship with Korina Sanchez,[37][41] who had a previous relationship with Paul Aquino, a cousin of Aquino.[41] Sanchez is now married to Aquino's party-mate, Senator Mar Roxas.[37][41] Aquino also had previous relationships with Bernadette Sembrano and Diana Zubiri.[37][41]
Aquino is an enthusiast of shooting and billiards.[1] Aquino relaxes by playing computer games since he could no longer do practical shooting and billiards.[42] Aquino is a history buff.[1] Aquino is also an audiophile and enjoys listening to music.[42] Aquino's favorite food is Chinese food.[42]
